The so-called Islamic State have reportedly confirmed that their leader, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, is dead.

Over the past few months, reports of al-Baghdadi’s death have been rife with both Syrian state sources and Russian military ‘confirming’ the death.

Now it appears to be entirely legitimate, with the Al Sumaria TV channel claiming the leader was killed within the Iraqi province of Nineveh, according to Iraqi News.

The cause of his death is yet to be confirmed.
